Solemn Bukhan Mountain

Solemn Bukhan Mountain

It was in the morning of a hot summer day
At the bottom of a solemn mountain
My mind searched the surroundings
Purposefully endlessly
Looking for the characters they offer

Korea, the most beautiful land on earth
I was so fortunate to be born on this land
The fortune has been extended to this aging body
Brought me back to the morning calm land
Though late it may be
A few moments of appreciation filled the empty soul
Couldn’t find a word of appreciation
Only breathed the warm and clean breeze
Thanking the land and those who have been before me
For their preserving the beauty forever

Seoul, the most elegant city in the world
The magnificent Han River told the long history
A symbol of patience and hard work
Has survived so many unfortunate tragedies
All caused by selfish and unkind others
But never by its own citizens

The citizen, modest is their humble motto
Always extends their best to others
Humility is the proud inheritance
Priceless treasure for the generations
Giving is always better than receiving
It is the unselfish deed without decoration

Where all of these fine characters came from?
No one seemed to know
Then they all looked up
Up there stood a humble but giant mountain
Quietly, sincerely, earnestly, solemnly
